How much electricity does a car generate?

I just bought an electric car! Woohoo! It’s a 2022 Nissan Leaf, and I’m wondering about how much energy it's using when I take it on the road. I want to do some road trips this summer and I’m curious how much it might cost. How much electricity would you say a car generates?

Congrats on the
Nissan Leaf
! A bunch of my friends own one and they love it! And that’s a great question. Getting to know your electric car can be overwhelming at first, but the more you know, the better you can take care of your awesome vehicle!
Here’s what we know about how much electricity a car generates:
  • To travel 100 miles, the average electric car uses** 30 kilowatt-hours (kWh)**.
  • **30 kWh **is also the same amount of electricity an average household uses per day to run lights, heating, AC, and various appliances.
  • It cost about 13 cents per kWh, using the average national residential utility rate.
With this new knowledge, you can now calculate how much energy each
road trip
will consume and _cost. But why stop there with the savings? Did you know most Americans are overpaying for their car insurance _every month?
