I just got the worst news from my mechanic—it looks like my van needs a new transmission. They quoted me $4,000 which seems way too expensive. How much does a Honda Odyssey transmission replacement cost?

You can expect to pay between $3,000 and $4,500 for a Honda Odyssey transmission replacement cost, including parts and labor.
Unfortunately, the transmission is a really expensive part to replace! You could save some money by asking for an aftermarket part, which will cost you closer to $2,000 for the part alone. But either way, you can expect to spend at least $800 purely on labor costs.
In general, transmissions for newer vehicles are more expensive than transmissions for older models. So, if you drive an older Odyssey, you could trim a bit off the overall price.
Before you book this repair, check to see if your transmission is still under warranty. A bumper-to-bumper warranty may cover transmission problems.
A newly installed remanufactured transmission should come with a three-year warranty.
