How many wheels does a dump truck have?

Do dump trucks have more than four wheels? My son has been telling me that his dump truck toy is wrong because it only has four wheels, so it would be nice to be able to tell him for sure that dump trucks only have four wheels.

Your son is right! Most dump trucks in the United States have eight wheels in totalor four on each side. These wheels are used to support and carry the weight of the waste that a dump truck collects on its route, and then again to steady the truck as it disposes of that waste in the landfill.
However, you can still save your son’s toy; some dump trucks have four wheels, though it is less common. If you want your son to be more excited about his truck, you might consider telling him that he has a special
truck
since it’s a little more unusual than the others on the road.
