How many Saturn Astras were made?
My brother has always been nostalgic about the Saturn Astra he drove in college. He was telling us his friend also had one, but I doubt that’s true considering how rare they are. How many Astras did GM make?

While your brother could be telling the truth, you’re right that
Saturn Astras
are rare! With just one model year on the market from 2008 to 2009, only around 18,000 Saturn Astras were ever made.The Astra was a charming hatchback that landed in the US from Europe in 2008, just before the recession hit. With all the bells and whistles added to the Astra like leather upholstery, a sunroof, automatic transmission, and 18-inch wheels, it came at a price tag of $23,555.
Despite that being a modest cost even for 2008, other models released at the time were more reasonably priced compared to the compact Saturn. The cost wasn’t what ultimately cut the Astra’s run short, though. It was General Motors’ termination of multiple brands simultaneously, including
Saturn
.Had the Saturn Astra been introduced a few years earlier, it might have withstood the market longer than one year, but timing is everything when it comes to manufacturing. With a smooth suspension and sleek style, the Astra was desirable despite its untimely debut, so your brother’s friend may have been one of its few owners!
