How many points go on your license for texting and driving?

My daughter is a new driver, and she already got pulled over for texting and driving. Thankfully, she got off with a warning, but I’m worried she’ll ruin her driving record in her first two years on the road. How many points go on your record for texting while driving?

The number of points on your license will depend on your state’s
specific laws
. Nearly every state has a ban on texting and driving, but not every state enforces it the same.
For instance, Tennessee forbids holding a phone at all while driving, and an infraction will cost 3 points to your license if you’re caught. In Colorado, it’s four points, and in California, it’s only one point. States like Missouri, however, have no ban in place at all.
Texting while driving is statistically six times more likely to cause an accident than drunk driving, and about 1 out of every 4 car accidents is caused by texting and driving. While 94% of teens understand the dangers of texting while driving, 33% of teens admit to still doing it.
Even if you make smart decisions about texting and driving, not every driver will. That’s why it’s so important to have a solid
