How many Gentleman Jim GMCs were made?
I just inherited my grandfather’s old vehicle called a Gentleman Jim. I don’t know anything about it, but I was told they are rare. Can you tell me how many GMC Gentleman Jim vehicles were made?

In the 1970s, GMC tried to make luxury pickup trucks happen. In doing so, the carmaker came up with the Gentleman Jim.
Between 1,000 and 2,000 Gentleman Jim GMCs were made. Gentleman Jim was the brand’s first special edition vehicle—a classed-up version of the
GMC Sierra
pickup. GMC produced Gentleman Jim for just half of 1975, which is partly why so few were made. It’s been said that GMC created Gentleman Jim in response to a years-earlier attempt from Dodge to introduce small, luxury trucks to the market with the Dodge Dude.
A high-end pickup truck was a radical concept back in the day, as trucks were primarily viewed as work vehicles.
The Gentleman Jim featured an automatic transmission, a long wheelbase, and black and gold body paint. Swanky interior features included custom floor mats, embroidered bucket seats, and (best of all) air conditioning, which was not the norm for vehicles circa ‘75.
GMC (and Dodge) was way ahead of the luxury pickup trend, making Gentleman Jim a rare bird in the automotive world—one that’s certainly worthy of
