The concept of EVs really only works when most people are driving one. Many countries want to eliminate gas-powered cars in the near future. How many Americans drive electric or hybrid cars?

Great question! While the U.S. is trying to encourage more drivers to choose EVs. Currently only about 1% of the cars on American roads are electric or hybrid cars.
Despite the fact that many countries want all-electric vehicles on the roads in the next decade, an article by InsideEVs claims that just over two-thirds of Americans wouldn’t pick an EV for their next vehicle. Many responded that concerns about driving range and EV infrastructure deterred them from switching from a traditional fuel vehicle.
There’s a gas station on nearly every street corner even in the remote rural areas of the U.S., but the same can’t be said for charging stations. The concerns about infrastructure are valid as currently, the EV charging network and infrastructure would not be able to support an EV majority.
While there is still a large push for the switch to EVs, it will likely take more than incentives to prove that the country’s auto care system can handle electrification.
