How long will a DUI stay on my driving record in Louisiana?

I was nailed with a DUI in Louisiana last year and my car insurance is breaking my bank! How long until it’s finally off my record and my rates go back to normal?

Being convicted of a DUI sucks as it means a definite increase in your insurance premiums. A
Louisiana DUI conviction
will remain on your record for 10 years for the first conviction.
Along with sky-high insurance premiums,
Louisana
drivers with an OWI (operating while intoxicated) on their driving record must also file an
SR-22
—a document certifying you meet the minimum insurance requirements in your state.
In certain states, it’s possible to fight for an acquittal, meaning the conviction will be removed from your driving record. However, Louisiana does not allow acquittals for DUI.
