How long will a DUI stay on my driving record in Kansas?

I live in Kansas and was convicted of driving under the influence almost four years ago. I’ve been paying sky-high insurance rates since it happened because I need a work vehicle, but I’m wondering how much longer it’ll stay on my record and affect my premium.

A DUI is a doozy for insurance premiums—and in
Kansas
, a DUI or OWI stays on your record for 10 years. It hikes your insurance premiums because a charge as severe as a DUI classifies you as a high-risk driver, which means you’re more likely than the average driver to make a claim.
But a DUI isn’t the only thing that characterizes a high-risk driver. You could also pay more if you:
  • Are involved in a serious accident
  • Commit traffic violations (speeding, reckless driving, driving without a license, etc.)
  • Are a young or new driver
  • Have poor credit
  • Drive a high-risk car (sports cars, etc.)
Finding cheap insurance can be tricky when you’re classified as a high-risk driver. But if you’re not willing to pay an arm and a leg to insure your vehicle, shop with
