How do you unplug car electrical connectors?

My cousin’s a mechanic, and she’s been helping me work on my Jeep this summer. I don’t want to bombard her with a million more questions—she’s a busy gal! I’m a bit stuck with my current project, and I was wondering how you’re supposed to unplug car electrical connectors? Thanks so much!

It’s always great to have a mechanic in the family! And props to you for taking your
car maintenance
into your own hands.
Your car’s electrical system helps it function correctly. Electrical connectors are actually designed to stay connected despite engine vibrations and high-speed exposure.
Here’s how to unplug a car electrical connector:
  • Take the connection you’d like to disconnect and place it away from the surrounding wires. This allows your hands an easier access point to the connection. If there’s a plastic wire tie on the bundle of wires preventing this, you can use a pair of scissors to cut it.
  • There are two ends to the connection, a male and a female end. The male is meant to be inserted into the female end. The female end should have a tap on the sides or on top of the connection.
  • Once you locate the tab, hold the female end **in one hand and **push in or down on the locking tab to release it.
  • If there’s no tag present,** hold the female end** with a firm grip in one hand, and use your other hand to** pull the male end** from the female receiver. Grab the plastic of the connector, making sure not to pull on the wires.
Now that you know how easy it is to disconnect electrical connectors in your car, why make it difficult to equip yourself with the best car insurance on the market? When it comes to finding top-notch coverage at an affordable price,
