How do you stop chipmunks from eating car electrical wiring?
I just got a new car last week and this morning I was going to change the oil in my car and something chewed the wires! I have an appointment with the mechanic tomorrow but how do you stop chipmunks from eating car electric wiring?

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that! You can stop chipmunks and rodents from chewing through the wires with mothballs, rodent repellant, and even coyote urine. Most of that can be found at your local hardware store (maybe not the urine).
Rodents are cute in the movies, but not when they chew through your car wires. Here are some ways to help prevent it from happening again.
Like insect repellant in the summertime, rodent repellant works to keep rodents away. There are certain repellents that work best in a garden and others that are suited to car engines so make sure to read the label.
Mothballs don’t just keep away moths, the smell of them is also known to repel rodents. Putting some under your car hood and even in your garage can help you make sure they steer clear of your car.
Coyote urine sounds like a weird thing to find at a hardware store, but it’s a great way to help keep smaller rodents and even some larger creatures away. Animals have a much better sense of smell than humans, and the smell of predator urine will keep them far from you and your car.
This is a natural repellant and won’t contain some of the harsher chemicals that other repellants contain. For it to continue to be effective, you should reapply every 2-3 months.
