We hope you had a great trip! And we’re glad you enjoyed driving your rental Buick Encore, too. More rental experiences should go that smoothly!
The Buick Encore was short lived—Buick discontinued the subcompact crossover in 2022, after just nine model years. Instead, Buick is doubling down on the slightly larger Encore GX. So out of the gate, you’re looking at a 2013 to 2022 model.
The 2013 and 2014 models should be a hard pass. These early Encores were plagued with electrical issues and racked up a large number of complaints. You’ll definitely want a newer model.
The Buick Encore got a facelift in 2017, which included an improved infotainment system and several aesthetic changes that made the Buick Encore nicer to look at. Any Encore from that year on should suit you well.
You should look for the newest Buick Encore with the lowest mileage possible. A 2020 to 2022 model with low mileage would be ideal, but don’t pass on a 2017 to 2019 model if it has low mileage and looks in good condition. There aren’t huge differences in quality or features here.
