How do you reset the oil life on a 2008 Honda Accord?

Is there a way to reset the oil life indicator in my Accord? I’m worried I’m going to have to visit the shop again to get them to reset it for me. I’d rather do it myself if possible.

Don’t worry, you won’t have to visit the shop again! Here’s how to reset the oil life on a 2008
Honda Accord
:
  • First, turn on your car without starting the engine. (This is called accessory mode.)
  • Look on the instrument cluster for the SELECT/RESET knob.
  • Press the knob to scroll through until you see the engine oil life indicator on the display.
  • Hold down the SELECT/RESET knob for 10 seconds, or until the engine oil life indicator and the maintenance code both start to blink.
  • Once the display starts blinking, release the SELECT/RESET knob. Then, press and hold the knob for 5 more seconds, or until the maintenance items code disappears and the engine oil life returns to 100%.
  • To make sure that the oil life has reset, turn your car off and then start your engine.
If you have any more problems with your oil indicator,
visit a shop
to make sure that your engine is functioning as it should. If your car is losing oil, you might have an issue with your engine that needs to be addressed.
