How do you report someone driving with no car insurance?

I am interning at a school and have a troublesome student who I overheard bragging about never purchasing car insurance. I want to avoid causing more conflict between us but make sure he understands how dangerous and expensive that could be. Is there a way I can report him for driving without car insurance?

You can report uninsured drivers to the police or the DMV. Police often have more significant concerns, so reporting uninsured drivers to the DMV is more effective. Doing so can help the student avoid an expensive lesson as well as protect other motorists.
The DMV keeps records on driver’s
car insurance
coverage and they are updated every few hours. Regardless of whether they disclose any insurance information to you, the DMV can ensure the matter is handled.
Each state has its own laws and punishments for those

. Hopefully, the student is actually insured and was just trying to act cool in front of his friends.
If you suspect the student is uninsured due to financial reasons and you decide to approach them before contacting the DMV, consider explaining the repercussions of driving without car insurance and suggest using an app like
Jerry
