How do you put a Smart Car in neutral without a key?

Can I put my Smart Car in neutral if I don’t have the key? I need to have it towed because I lost the key, but I don’t know how I can do that without turning on the car first.

Unfortunately, Smart Cars can’t be put in neutral without a key. While you can put your vehicle in neutral without turning your car on, you’ll still need your key in order to do so.
However, you can still have your car towed without putting it in neutral! To do this, you’ll have to put your car on a flatbed with all of its wheels on the ground. You can request this type of towing service specifically from the towing company, but make sure to mention it ahead of time since they will need to bring the correct equipment to your location!
