How do you put a Kia Soul in neutral when it’s dead?

Can I put my Kia Soul in neutral with a dead battery? I can’t reach the battery to jump it unless I move my car first, but I can’t move my car because the battery is dead!

Yes, you can! To put a
Kia Soul
in neutral when it’s dead, you’ll need to do the following:
  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Carefully remove the shift lock release cover, which is located just above the P on your gearshift. This should reveal a small slot.
  3. Using a coin or flathead screwdriver, press down into the slot.
  4. While still pressing your tool of choice into the slot, move the shift lever as normal.
  5. Remove your tool from the shift lock release, then replace the cover. Be careful! Remember, your car is now in neutral and will roll if you release the parking brake.
Now you should be able to move your vehicle!
