How to replace Kia Soul windshield wipers

Windshield wipers generally need to be swapped for a new set every 12 months. However, this can vary depending on where you live.
Regions that experience a lot of snow or rain use their wiper blades more frequently than in drier conditions. Since the windshield wipers are put to use more frequently, you’ll likely need to replace your wiper blades before the 12-month mark if you live in places like
Seattle
or
Chicago
On the flip side, the wiper blades will likely last longer than 12 months if you live in
Los Angeles
,
Scottsdale
, and similar climates.
You’ll know that it’s time to replace your Kia Soul wiper blades as soon as they start making your windshield visibility murkier and murkier. Fortunately, you can save money by doing this easy repair at home! All you need is a new set of wiper blades, a few minutes, and these simple steps.

How to put Kia Soul windshield wipers in the service position

Start by putting your wiper blades in the service position by stopping the wiper blades at the top of the upward stroke. The service position allows you to easily access the blades for the repair.
To get to service position on a Kia Soul, turn the ignition ON and back OFF again—at this point, you have 20 seconds to turn on the Wiper Service Mode.
Next, put the windshield wipers into MIST mode, holding the wiper control stalk in place for two seconds. This will move and stop the wiper blades so that they’re on the highest point of the upwards stroke. You’ve successfully put the Kia Soul windshield wipers in the service position!

How to replace Kia Soul wiper blades

With your wiper blades in the service position, you’re set up to swap out your old Kia Soul windshield wipers for a new set.
  • Detach the blade component from the wiper arm by pressing down on the release tab
  • Gently remove the old wiper blade by sliding it out of the blade component
  • Install the new wiper blade by sliding it into place, fitting it securely into the grooves
  • Reattach the blade component to the wiper arm
  • Test the new wiper blades by turning the ignition on and activating MIST on the wiper switch
Repeat the steps for the opposite blade. Then, you’re done!
Sometimes, you may discover that there’s a problem with the wiper arm. If you do, simply head over to your local mechanic to have them take a look. The wiper arm is wired into the car’s electrical system so it’s best to let the pros handle the repair.
