How do you program a garage door opener for a GMC Acadia?

When I first got my car, I was told that you could connect your garage door opener to your vehicle but I forgot to set it up. I’ve been driving my car for a while now and can’t remember how to do it. How do you program the garage door opener in a GMC Acadia?

Great question! Having a programmed garage door opener in your vehicle not only saves you time, but can save you from the worry about door opener theft in your car! To learn how to program a
GMC Acadia
garage door opener, follow these steps:
  • Locate the Homelink system above your rearview mirror
  • Push the number “1” on your Homelink system
  • Wait for a red light to flash on the system. This light indicates that you’re ready to program
  • Take your garage door opener and hold it near the Homelink system
  • Push and hold down the button on your door opener until the red light stops flashing
Your door opener is now programmed! To test out the connection, fully close your garage and press the number “1” button inside the vehicle. If you programmed it correctly, your door should open!
Now that you’ve protected your car from garage door opener theft, ensure your GMC is protected with the right
