How do you open the gas tank on a Chrysler 200?

I’ve been learning to drive on my family’s Chrysler 200 and just got my graduated driver’s license. My dad says he’s going to let me take the car to school, but I have to keep the gas topped off. How do you open the gas tank on a Chrysler 200?

Congratulations on getting your license—that’s so exciting! Learning to pump your own gas is an essential car ownership skill, but it’s also one of the easiest things to learn. Unlike some vehicles, the
Chrysler 200
doesn’t have a fuel door release or lever inside the cabin, so you’ll have to open your car’s gas tank from outside the vehicle.
All you have to do is pull up to the gas pump, exit your car and walk to the fuel door, and press it inward to trigger the release. The door will then pop open to reveal the gas cap. Unscrew the cap, and follow the instructions on the gas pump to fill your car with regular, 87-octane gasoline—the type of fuel Chrysler recommends for the 200 sedan. That’s all there is to it!
When you’re done refueling your car, take care you don’t forget to reattach the gas cap and push your fuel door closed again. An unsecured gas cap can let dirt or grime seep into your fuel tank, which can damage your fuel injectors over time.
