How do you open the bonnet of a Honda Civic?

I was out with family last night and accidentally left the interior lights of my 2020 Honda Civic on all night. When I went to run some errands today, the car wouldn’t start—I’m guessing the battery is dead. I have a portable jumpstarter my dad gave me years ago, but how do I open the car hood to access the battery?

Oh, no! I’m sorry to hear that your battery is dead, but it’s great you have a portable jumpstarter.
Opening the bonnet, also known as the hood, of your 2020
Honda Civic
is simple, so you should be off running your errands soon!
To open the bonnet of a Honda Civic:
  • Open the driver-side door.
  • Locate and pull the hood release handle. The handle should be under the lower-left corner of the dashboard, close to the pedals. The hood will slightly pop open once the handle is pulled.
  • Walk to the front of your vehicle and reach under the center of the hood until you feel the hood latch lever.
  • Push the hood latch lever to the side, raise the hood, and prop the hood up on the support rod.
Once open, you’re all set to give the battery a jumpstart and be on your way!
Considering the portable jumpstarter is years old, it may not work. If you end up having to call a roadside service for a jump or tow, you can make the most of the wait by saving money on your
