How do you attach a front license plate to a Tesla?
I just got my Tesla delivered the other day. When installing my plates, I realized there was nowhere to mount the front license plate. Legally, I have to have a front license plate in my state. How can I attach a front license plate to my Tesla?

If front license plates are required in your state, you can either find a Tesla mechanic to help you or follow the mount kit’s instructions and apply the plate yourself with adhesives.
If front plates are required in your state, see if your Tesla came with a front license plate mount kit. Teslas don’t come with the front plate mount installed, so drivers commonly overlook it, but you’re super smart to take care of this before you go out for an inaugural spin!
If your kit requires drilling: If your Tesla requires drilling into the vehicle’s front end, consult the instructions provided with the mount or find instructions online for your specific model. If you’re not comfortable drilling into your vehicle, a Tesla showroom or mechanic can install it correctly for you.
If your kit has adhesives: Here are the steps to follow for installing a Tesla front plate with adhesives:
- Wash and dry: Carefully clean your vehicle’s front grille area using car soap and water and then completely dry the area.
- Position the plate: Locate precisely where you want to mount the license plate using the Tesla logo on the hood as a reference point to center the license plate frame.
- Mount the plate: Peel off the stickers covering the adhesive strips and carefully place the mount on your vehicle. Be careful as the adhesive is strong and adjusting it afterwards is problematic.
- Press it firmly: Press and hold down the mount to ensure the adhesive strips are fully secured.
If your Tesla does not have a kit: Contact a local showroom to see if they can assist you or if they have front license plate mounts for sale.
