How do I turn on Bluetooth audio in Ford SYNC?

I just got my first-ever car, so I’m still learning the ropes of navigating the infotainment system. It’s a Ford equipped with Ford SYNC, but I’m not sure how the Bluetooth works. How can I turn Bluetooth audio on?

Congratulations on your first car! It is relatively simple to turn on Bluetooth audio in
Ford
SYNC. First, you’ll need to ensure your phone is paired with the Ford SYNC system. To do that:
  • Open the “Phone” menu on the SYNC display, then select “Add Phone” or something similar
  • Open your phone’s Bluetooth settings, turn Bluetooth on, then select your vehicle’s name from the available options
  • Enter or otherwise confirm the PIN shown on both the SYNC display and your phone, if prompted
Once you’ve gone through those steps, you should see a pairing confirmation from your Ford. Then, either navigate to the media source menu and select “Bluetooth” or press the voice command button and say “Bluetooth Audio” if your Ford has voice command. Finally, you should find your device among the Bluetooth options—select it, and you’re done!
