How do I turn off the maintenance light on a 2002 Honda Accord?

How do I reset the maintenance required light on a 2002 Honda Accord? When I start my car, the maintenance light will blink for a few seconds. What does this blinking mean, and how can I turn it off?

Thankfully, even when the maintenance light is on, it doesn’t mean there is a severe issue with your
Honda Accord
. The maintenance light is a service indicator to let you know to get an oil change or you’ve reached a particular mileage where service is due.
If you’ve recently had an oil change or
maintenance
performed, you may need to reset the light manually.
  • Step one: Insert the key into the ignition. Turn it to the ON notch, but don’t start the car.
  • Step two: Turn the engine off by turning the key to the OFF notch.
  • Step three: Locate the odometer reset button on your dashboard and press it.
  • Step four: Continue to hold down the knob as you turn the ignition back to the ON notch.
  • Step five: Once 10-15 seconds have passed, you should see the light turn off.
That’s it! You shouldn’t see the light blink until you bank another few thousand miles.
