How do I turn off the AFS in an Acura RL?

I just bought a used Acura RL from 2012. It has this really annoying feature called the adaptive front lighting system. I guess it’s supposed to make the headlights more helpful. Maybe I’ve just been driving for too many years with the old way of doing things. I just want normal headlights. How can I turn off the AFS in my Acura RL?

Great question! Some features can indeed be more of an annoyance than a help. You can turn off the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) in your
Acura RL
by pressing the button labeled AFS OFF.
The adaptive front lighting system (AFS) was first introduced in 2003. The idea is that the front headlights will turn along with the steering wheel to keep the beams of light pointing where you most need them.
If you find this feature less than helpful, press the AFS OFF button that is located to the right of the left vent in your
Acura
. You’ll notice the AFS Indicator Light will come on in your dashboard display. This light will also come on if the system is malfunctioning. You can have a malfunctioning AFS system repaired by your car dealer.
Making sense of all the fancy gadgets in newer cars can be confusing. Almost as confusing as sorting through the technical jargon, double-talk, sales pitches, phone calls, and spam emails that come with trying to find the best deal on
car insurance
.
Luckily, now there is
Jerry
. A licensed broker, Jerry does all the hard work of finding cheap quotes from the top name-brand insurance companies and buying new car insurance. Jerry will even help you cancel your old policy.
