Leaking windows is definitely something you want to address before the problem gets any worse. Luckily, the process to replace weather stripping on car windows is very easy.
Before you think about putting on new weather stripping, you’ll need to pull off the old stripping. With slight pressure, you can remove the strip and its adhesive backing. If the adhesive doesn’t come off, try using a product like Goo Gone to loosen the glue, or use warm water and a sponge to loosen it.
Clean the surface underneath the old adhesive using a mild cleaner.
Apply new adhesive to the weather stripping track. Check with your manufacturer for OEM weather stripping to fit your vehicle. If you decide to use a generic brand, make sure it’s similar to your old one for the best seal.
Gently align the new weather stripping along the adhesive to ensure it lines up properly and has no gaps where water could enter.
Apply pressure to secure the new strip into place.
Repeat this process for all four windows, and just like that, you’ve resealed your car windows!
