How do I play music via Bluetooth in a BMW 1 Series?
I just bought a used 1 Series BMW, and I want to connect my phone via Bluetooth to play music—how do I do it?

Assuming your vehicle has Bluetooth capability, you can play music via Bluetooth in a BMW 1 Series by pairing your phone through iDrive. First, ensure your Bluetooth is enabled on both your car and your phone, then follow these steps:
- Using iDrive, select Communication > Manage Mobile Devices > Connect New Device
- Select the required functions for the device
- Choose a Bluetooth name for your BMW
- Open the Bluetooth menu on your phone and find and select the BMW Bluetooth name
- Follow the instructions on the vehicle display and phone
For most phones, you’ll have to confirm a pairing code that’ll display on the vehicle’s screen and your smartphone. Once confirmed, the phone is paired to your BMW and will be displayed in the device list. You can then open your music app and start playing tunes!
Be mindful that you can only pair a phone while the car is parked.
