I just bought an older Scion tC and I can’t figure out where the fuel release switch is on the dashboard. Help! How do I open the gas tank on a Scion tC?

The reason you can’t find a fuel release switch on your
Scion tC
dash is that the fuel release switch is on the floor next to the driver’s seat! Pull up on this switch to open the gas tank on a Scion tC. Then, unscrew the gas cap. You can hook the cap inside the fuel door while you refuel.
After you refuel, screw the cap on clockwise until it’s tight. Then, push the fuel door closed. It’s as easy as that!
- Use regular unleaded 87 octane fuel: There’s really no benefit to using premium fuel in your tC.
- The fuel tank capacity is 14.5 gallons: It’s good to know if you’ve completely filled the tank when you’re at the gas station.
- Practice safe driving habits to improve fuel efficiency: Avoid harsh braking and accelerating, keep your tires inflated, and use cruise control on highways.
If your gas cap ever feels loose, like you just can’t get it to tighten, it might be time to replace it. You can pick up a replacement gas cap at any auto parts store.
