How do I get a rental car with Allstate if my car's in the shop after an accident?

I was in an accident and my car is in the shop. Hopefully the repairs will be done soon, but in the meantime, I have no way to get to work. I have my insurance through Allstate; is there any way I can use it to get a rental car until my car is completely fixed?

Allstate
provides an additional policy called
rental reimbursement coverage
that can provide you with funds for a rental car. To use this benefit, you can either:
  • Reserve a rental car on your own and submit the bill to Allstate for reimbursement.
  • Have an Allstate representative reserve a vehicle for you, and the rental agency will bill your
    car insurance
    directly.
Allstate’s rental reimbursement covers more than just rental car fares, though. It can also reimburse you for public transportation fares following a covered loss.
If you didn’t include rental reimbursement coverage when you purchased your Allstate policy, check with a representative to see if you have any reimbursement options under your
collision coverage
. Otherwise, this might be a great time to consider adding the coverage for future use.
