How do I fix my car AC evaporator leak?

My air conditioner has been dripping water onto the ground where I park, and no cold air is going into the cabin. I think it’s an AC evaporator leak. How would I fix my car AC evaporator leak?

AC issues are a drag! There is an at-home solution to help stop the leak.
You can try a few cans of Stop Leak. Like the name, it should help stop the leak in your condenser unit.
That said, to properly address a leak:
  • The entire HVAC system must be cleaned out with a vacuum pump.
  • The evaporator may need to be replaced.
  • The dash may need to come out for access.
You could buy the tools yourself for a few hundred dollars, but doing the work may require more than you can handle. Since AC evaporator units can be pretty complex and may require a decent amount of disassembly to access and repair, this may be better left to a professional mechanic.
