Yikes, wobbly tires! To fix a tire wobble, you probably have to replace the faulty tire.
There are two common causes for a wobbly tire: 1) The tire has separated or 2) The wheel is bent or misshapen. Either way, go to a repair shop immediately. Wobbly tires are a serious safety issue that could lead to a blowout.
To solve the issue, you must first determine which tire is the problem.
Usually, the problem tire has a bump or flat spot along the tread. Feel along each tire with your hands until you locate the problem—or bring your vehicle to a repair shop. A professional will put your vehicle in the balancer and examine the spin of each wheel to figure out which tire is the problem.
Once you find the problem tire, it’s a simple matter of replacing the faulty tire.
There is a slim chance that transmission and driveline problems could be causing the wobble. Start with a visit to the tire shop, since tire problems are the most likely cause. If that doesn’t solve the problem, then move on to another consultation.
Do not drive on a wobbly tire for any longer than necessary. Wobbling can increase wear and tear and reduce the life of your vehicle.
