Can you jump a car in the rain?

I went to start my car the other day and it wouldn’t turn over. It was raining and I was nervous about jumping it in the rain so I ended up taking my partner's car. Is it safe to jump a car in the rain?

There’s not much worse than hopping your car only to turn the key and hear the dreaded clicking of a dead battery. Jumping your car in the rain isn’t the most ideal situation but it can be done safely. The moisture isn’t as important as connecting the cables in the right order.
Before you do it, make sure your jumper cables are in good condition and if possible, find an umbrella to shield your battery from water.
Here’s how to jump your car in the rain:
Make sure both vehicles are turned off before connecting any cables Attach one of the cables’ red clamp to the positive end of the dead battery Attach the other red clamp to the positive end of the working battery Attach the black clamp on the negative end of the working battery Ground the remaining black cable by attaching it to a piece of metal on the engine block—DO NOT attach it to the battery Start the car with the working battery Start the car with the dead battery and leave it running when it turns on Disconnect the cables in the opposite order that they were connected—remove the black grounded cable, the black cable from the working batter, the red cable from the working battery, and lastly the red cable from the dead battery Leave the car that had the dead battery running for a minimum of 15-20 minutes to recharge the battery
