How do I fix a flooded motorcycle engine?
I was riding my motorcycle last weekend when I suddenly smelled gas and went home. My motorcycle didn’t start today, so I called one of my buddies and they said my engine flooded. How do I fix a flooded motorcycle engine at home?

I’m sorry to hear your motorcycle engine is flooded! If you’ve ruled out electrical issues and you’re confident your engine has flooded with gasoline, you can easily fix this problem at home in 30 minutes or less following these steps:
- Remove the spark plugs. Using a wrench remove the spark plugs, wipe them down with a towel, and let them dry.
- Turn off the gas line and the choke on the carburetor. Drain the excess oil by tilting the bike on the side that contains the carburetor.
- Kick start the bike. Dry the compression cylinder by kick-starting your bike eight to 10 times while the spark plugs are removed.
- Reinstall the spark plugs. Once the spark plugs are dry, reinstall them and turn the gas back on.
- Check the oil. Pull the oil plug and check if there is gasoline or any particles in the oil. If there is, change the oil immediately.
