How do I drive a new car home without insurance?

I'm buying a new car. We already have one, but I want to get one for my wife. I was just wondering how I can drive it home without insurance. I want to surprise her, and I'm worried she'll see the car on the insurance bill or something.

Driving a car without insurance is illegal in most states. In fact, buying a car without
proof of insurance
is also exceptionally difficult, and may not even be possible, depending on where you’re buying the car.
If you already have an insurance policy for your other car, you may have a grace period before you need to
add your new car
to the existing policy. This usually only applies if you’re buying from a private seller, though, and not all insurance companies have a grace period. You should check with your insurer to find out the exact details.
If you don’t have
car insurance
already, you’ll need to shop for quotes and purchase a policy before you pick up your new car.
