It’s a good thing you’re on top of this—carbon monoxide can be very dangerous and a working detector is the only way to keep yourself safe. Read on for a step-by-step guide to replacing the batteries in a carbon monoxide alarm.
Make sure you’ve got the right type of battery. Most carbon monoxide alarms take either 9V or AA. You can check the current batteries inside the alarm to confirm.
You can remove the alarm from the ceiling or wall to make it easy to switch out the batteries.
First, you’ll need to open the battery drawer and remove the old batteries. Then, hold the test/reset button for ten seconds. Next, insert the new batteries and close the battery drawer.
With the new batteries installed, you can hang the carbon monoxide detector back in its place!
