How can you tell if the frame on your truck is bent?

I recently got into an accident. I don't notice any damage, but now my truck is acting strange. I'm worried the frame is bent. How can I tell?

A bent frame can cause alignment and safety problems, so making sure it’s in tip-top condition is important!
The easiest way to tell if your truck’s frame is bent is to look underneath it. If you slide underneath your truck and notice a bent frame or damage, then that’s likely the issue.
If you can’t tell, some other symptoms of a bent frame are:
  • Alignment issues or pulling
  • Trying to drive straight, but driving at an angle
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Strange noises
Should you experience any of these issues, take your vehicle in for an inspection. A mechanic or repair shop can diagnose the problem for you.
If your frame is bent and you didn’t submit a claim to your
car insurance
, reach out to your insurer as soon as possible. A bent frame is fixable, but if it was caused by another driver or you have
collision insurance
, going through your insurance is advisable.
If you don’t have collision insurance, you may want to consider it in the future. Use the
