How can you tell if the frame on your truck is bent?

I recently got into an accident. I don't notice any damage, but now my truck is acting strange. I'm worried the frame is bent. How can I tell?

A bent frame can cause alignment and safety problems, so making sure it’s in tip-top condition is important!
The easiest way to tell if your truck’s frame is bent is to look underneath it. If you slide underneath your truck and notice a bent frame or damage, then that’s likely the issue.
If you can’t tell, some other symptoms of a bent frame are:
  • Alignment issues or pulling
  • Trying to drive straight, but driving at an angle
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Strange noises
Should you experience any of these issues, take your vehicle in for an inspection. A mechanic or repair shop can diagnose the problem for you.
If your frame is bent and you didn’t submit a claim to your car insurance, reach out to your insurer as soon as possible. A bent frame is fixable, but if it was caused by another driver or you have collision insurance, going through your insurance is advisable.
If you don’t have collision insurance, you may want to consider it in the future. Use the Jerry app to compare quotes from dozens of car insurance providers to get the best rate possible for your car insurance.
