How much does it cost to repair wheel well rust?
My car is on the older side and the wheel wells have some pretty significant rust. I don’t have the skills to fix it on my own, but I also don’t want to spend an arm and a leg. How much does wheel well rust repair cost?

Oh, man. I feel your pain. Car repair can be costly.
The most economical choice, of course, is to fix the problem yourself. If you don’t already have the required materials, they will cost around $60 to purchase.
This is what you’ll need:
- 100 grit sandpaper
- A handheld saw
- A Bondo Body Repair Kit
- Rust-proof primer
- Enamel paint, as closely matched to the car’s original color as possible
Once you have the materials, follow these steps:
- Sand the rusted area thoroughly to remove surface rust
- Cut rusted holes down to the non-rusted edges with your handheld saw
- Repair the holes using the Bondo kit
- Sand the patched areas until they are even with the metal
- Spray the area with a rust-proof primer
- Finish up with several coats of enamel paint
If the damage is more extensive, and you have to go to a mechanic, you can expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $2,000.
