How can I turn off the trunk light in my Ford Escape?

I lent my car to a friend a few days ago. I just noticed that the trunk light has been on since. I don’t really know what to do about it! What steps should I take to turn off the trunk light in my Ford Escape?

It can be challenging to learn all the ins and outs of your car, especially when you let someone else borrow it—but try not to worry! Ford Escape trunk lights stay on when the trunk isn’t closed properly.
To turn off the trunk light, start by opening your trunk and closing it again. Hopefully, that will solve your problem! If it doesn’t, check the trunk latch for any obstructions that might prevent it from closing.
If there’s nothing obstructing the latch, you may have a problem with the lock actuator or trunk alignment. Visiting a
mechanic
 or a Ford dealership is the easiest way to diagnose any issues. That said, you can expect to pay significantly more if you need to replace the actuator or pay for labor for a realignment.
