How can I change the battery on a Honda key fob?

I’ve been having problems unlocking my car from a distance, and I think my key might need a new battery. Can I change the battery on my Honda key fob? If so, how?

It can be very frustrating when our technology doesn’t work as it should. To change the battery in your
Honda
key fob, follow these simple steps:
  1. Purchase the proper battery type for your key fob. If you aren’t sure what kind you need, check your owner’s manual or the back of the battery once you open your key fob.
  2. Release the valet key hidden inside your key fob by pressing and sliding the button either on the top or bottom of the key fob.
  3. Gently pry the key fob apart with a flathead screwdriver.
  4. Take out the dead battery, but pay attention to the position of the negative and positive sides as the new battery will need to be replaced in the same position.
  5. Insert the new battery and gently close the key fob. Test the key fob to ensure that it works.
Now that your key fob is functioning properly, take a moment to go over your
