involves completing a driving instructor training program and earning a certificate.Here’s how you can earn a driving instructor certificate in Pennsylvania:
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate. This is required to enroll at a college or university that certifies driving instructors.
- Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. You will need to show your birth certificate, You’ll also need to provide your birth certificate, checkbook, Social Security card, and two documents proving your Pennsylvania residency (mortgage agreements, utility bills, W-2 form, etc.).
- Maintain a clean driving record and criminal background.
- Complete a driver education and safety course from a recognized college or university listed on the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s approved list.,
- Contact your school to set up an appointment to complete the Praxis test. This is a prerequisite for entering a teacher education program and is required to become a certified driving instructor.
- Apply for your driving instructor certification with the state’s Department of Education and complete the General Application For Pennsylvania Certificate Form PDE 338 G. Bring the completed form plus the $100 fee to your driving school’s certification office.
