Does State Farm renters insurance cover pets?

I just adopted my first kitten! This is the first pet I’ve owned while I live in a place I rent, so I’m not sure about insurance. I have renters insurance with State Farm. Will my State Farm renters insurance cover pets?

Congratulations on your new kitten! I’m sure you’re beyond excited to have a new companion in your home.
State Farm
renters insurance covers pets but only under your personal liability coverage.
The personal liability coverage found within renters insurance will cover any injuries or damage your pet inflicts on a third party or their property. Your renters insurance won’t cover any damages your pet does to you or your property. Renters insurance also will not cover vet bills or other health costs for your pet.
If you’re interested in additional protection for your kitten, consider buying pet insurance to cover those expenses.
