Does standard renters insurance cover a backed-up sewer drain?
"Sewer backup spilled into the basement of the home I'm renting. Many of my belongings are now damaged. Will my renters insurance (standard policy) cover this damage?

“No, unfortunately your standard renters insurance will not cover sewer backup. Sewer backup coverage is typically an add-on coverage to your policy, which you pay an extra cost for. Check with your insurance agent or company to add this coverage so you are protected for future incidents. “
