Is the catalytic converter covered under the Powertrain Warranty for Chevy?
I’m checking all the details on Chevy’s warranty before I sign off on a new Equinox. For the catalytic converter, is that covered by the Powertrain Warranty? I can’t seem to find it on the list of covered parts.

It’s great that you’re doing your research before you buy a new Chevy! The catalytic converter is not covered by Chevy’s Powertrain Warranty. Instead, it falls under the Emissions Control System Warranty.
How long the catalytic converter is covered for depends on what kind of Chevy you have and where you live:
- Light-duty car or truck: 8 years/80,000 miles federally
- Heavy-duty truck: 8 years/80,000 miles federally
- Heavy-duty truck: 5 years/50,000 miles (gasoline engines) or 5 years/100,000 miles (diesel engines) in California
- Transitional Zero Emission Vehicle (TZEV): 15 years/150,000 miles in California
