Does SR22 cover any car I have?

So I currently have SR-22 insurance because of a DUI conviction I got a few years ago. It was a reckless decision, but I’m working toward ensuring that I never do that again. I wondered if my SR-22 will cover any car that I have, or does it just apply to one car?

First off, I’m glad to hear that you’re making efforts to ensure that you never get a DUI again!
SR-22 may cover any car you have—it depends. There are two different types of SR-22 insurance:
  • The first is an owner certificate, which only covers the car(s) you own.
  • The second is a non-owner certificate, which covers a vehicle that you don’t own.
Regardless, make sure you have proof of your SR-22 on you at all times when you’re driving. You certainly don’t want to add any unnecessary marks to your driving record should you get pulled over.
