Does home insurance cover paving over a washed-out gravel driveway?
"My neighborhood has dealt with some extreme rainfall lately. All this excess water has washed out my gravel driveway. I want to get it paved to avoid similar problems in the future. Will my home insurance cover the cost of paving the driveway?
“It is great that you are looking to make improvements to your home to prevent future losses! Unfortunately, upgrading the driveway will not be covered under your homeowners policy, and there are few reasons why.
First, standard homeowners policies exclude floods, especially as defined as rainwater accumulating at a rapid pace. And a flood policy wouldn’t cover a gravel driveway because it is not a structure.
Your homeowners policy can provide reimbursement for supplies that are used to prevent further damage to your property at the time of a loss, but it is the nature of a gravel driveway to lose gravel from shifting, so this option would not apply here, either. “

Is Root car insurance legitimate? "
"I feel like I am severely overpaying for my bare-minimum, liability-only car insurance. I heard about Root Insurance and took a test drive to get a quote. The amount of money that I would be saving each month by switching is unbelievable. Is this for real or is it too good to be true? "
