Foggy windows are annoying! Since foggy windows usually occur due to old age, home insurance wouldn’t cover their replacement.
The most common causes of foggy windows are:
  • Old age
  • Water exposure
  • Heat exposure
Unless your windows are deteriorating due to a
covered peril
, like a storm, fire, or burst pipe, you won’t have coverage. If a covered peril did cause the damage to your windows, you could submit a claim to repair the seals or replace the window as long as the damage was more than your deductible.
To confirm what your policy covers, review your home insurance policy’s terms and conditions. This will give you the best idea of whether you could submit a claim for coverage or not.
If you decide you’d like to review your options or change your coverage after looking at your policy, consider using
Jerry
. A licensed broker, Jerry does all the hard work of finding cheap quotes from the top name-brand insurance companies and buying new home or renters insurance. Jerry will even help you cancel your old policy.
And to ensure you always have the lowest rate, Jerry will send you new quotes every time your policy comes up for renewal, so you’re always getting the coverage you want at the best price.
