Does home insurance cover flat roof leaks?

Many insurance companies have exclusions or conditions for flat roofs, so know you aren’t alone in the struggle to initially find coverage. Since you have a home insurance policy, it may provide coverage for a flat roof leak.
First, the damage to your roof must be from a
covered peril
, like a storm or falling object. If a covered peril caused the damage, you’ll also need to review your policy’s terms and conditions regarding your flat roof. Flat roofs are more prone to damage and typically have a shorter lifespan than sloped roofs. Because of this, your insurance company may exclude certain types of damage from coverage.
