Does cruise control make electric cars more efficient?

I was reading up on how to get the most out of an EV battery and I read somewhere that cruise control makes electric cars more efficient. Is that just an urban myth or is it true?

Cruise control lets your car self-regulate its speed on the road so you can take your foot off the accelerator. It’s a great tool for all vehicles to save on fuel because it reduces the driver’s constant acceleration and deceleration which can use up both gas and battery power.
Cruise control can be dangerous if it’s not used in the right setting. Typically it’s best when there’s little traffic and when the speed limit stays the same for a while. Cruise control is most efficient for relatively flat terrain as the system may overshoot how much to accelerate up a hill.
