Does a 2005 MINI Cooper have Bluetooth?

I drive an older Mini Cooper, and have for the last few years. I thought it was too dated to have features like hands-free calling, until a friend told me that her Mini has Bluetooth, and it’s only a few years newer than mine. Does the 2005 Mini Cooper have Bluetooth?

Only some 2005 models of the MINI Cooper feature Bluetooth capabilities. The 2005 model year was the first in which Mini Coopers saw Bluetooth integration for audio streaming and hands-free calling—but it’s unclear whether every model sports this feature, and the ones that do have it in a fairly limited capacity.
In 2005 Mini Coopers equipped with Bluetooth, only three devices may be paired to the vehicle anytime. That means if you want to connect a fourth phone to your car, you’ll have to manually delete one of the previously paired devices.
The MINI brand didn’t standardize Bluetooth connectivity in its Coopers until 2014 (nearly a decade after the feature was first introduced!). If your Mini Cooper came with the owner’s manual still intact, chances are you’ll be able to uncover whether or not you drive a Bluetooth-compatible car by checking there.
But if you conclude that your trusty Cooper lacks hands-free capabilities, you still have options—like adding a Bluetooth adapter to your vehicle. While at it, don’t forget to add the right used car coverage to your insurance policy!
