Do you need good grades to get a driving permit?

My grade point average hovers around 2.0—not because I’m lazy, but because I just don’t really like school work. I want to get my driver’s license though, so I was thinking I might need to improve my grades to get a permit. Do I actually need to get good grades to receive a driving permit?

Many high school students point to indifference or a lack of interesting subject matter as a reason for slipping grades. While you should always try your best, the good news is that you do not need good grades to get a driving permit.
From
California
to Maine and all the states in between, not one has an academic requirement for getting a driving permit. However, being a good student still has driving-related advantages.
If you can maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, you’re often eligible for a good student discount on car insurance, which can save you hundreds of dollars a year. So if a little bit of effort puts money back in your pocket, why not put your best foot forward?
