Do Mercedes vehicles have spare tires?
My husband and I currently drive BMWs but we’re thinking of switching to Mercedes-Benz. Do they come with spare tires?

Not all Mercedes-Benz have spare tires—however, if it doesn’t have a spare, your Benz will be equipped with run-flat tires or a tire fit mobility kit.
Here’s the difference:
- Spare tires are stored somewhere in your vehicle and used to replace your tire in the event it goes flat. Mercedes vehicles use temporary spares, which are designed to be smaller and lighter than regular tires, but should only be used in emergencies and for short periods of time.
- Run-flat tires are regular road tires that you can continue driving on even after a puncture, so you can safely get to an auto shop or safe place to perform the necessary repairs. They have reinforced sidewalls inside the tire that protect an extra pocket of air. When you experience a flat, your rims will be protected for another 50 miles at speeds of 50 mph or less.
- Tire fit mobility kits are simply repair kits, designed to seal punctures in the tire tread caused by nails or similar objects with a diameter of up to 6 mm. The kit consists of a compact compressor and a separate sealant bottle, with a shelf life of up to 5 years.
In addition to one of these three options, all Mercedes are equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system complete with sensors in each wheel. If your tire is flat, the system will display a tire malfunction warning on the dash cluster.
